These really are "black out." Of course, if you want total darkness, you need shades underneath or else it shows through the sides. But, the curtain itself does not let in light. I've bought them before, so I know they wash well too. FYI, I don't dry them - I hang them to dry.

This is the third set of drapes that I have purchased. I love how easy it is to open and close the drapes using the metal grommets. The drapes have a high quality look and feel. I think they do a good job of blocking out sunlight and heat. Would highly recommend them!

The curtain color was accurately represented on the website. I'm very happy with my purchase. It looks like it should last a long time and do a good job insulating the heat in summer and the cold in winter.

Great curtain for our toddler's room. The sun blasts his room in the morning and this takes off some heat as well as doing a great job of blocking out light. I add a light blanket on top of the rod itself when the curtains are closed to block out light that escapes above the curtain rod, so you will have to account for that if you need complete darkness. A rod much closer to the wall than mine would probably solve that issue as well. Very happy with the product.
