Moondream's reversible 4-in-1 Room Divider Curtains use our own patented technology (U.S. Patent N° 9475260) with 4 layers of strategically assembled materials to obtain the best results in sound insulation that can be achieved with a fabric curtain: identical blackout fabric on each external side, one metallized thermal-insulating lining layer and one thick cotton layer inside. The curtain absorbs and stops the passage of sound waves and also provides a thermal insulation against heat and cold as well as a 100% blackout effect.
The room divider curtain can act as a wall to muffle high frequency noise such as voices. As the curtain looks identical on both sides, it is the ideal replacement for a door or as a mobile partition wall. I will start with the bad news. There is no such thing as a sound proof curtain. These should be advertised as noise reduction curtains. Theoretically soundproofing might be possible if you were targeting one frequency and built a curtain to address that one frequency. On the positive side ; these are heavy well constructed curtains that will reduce noise levels 8 to 9 dba as measured on the slow scale. I used them to reduce noise levels coming out of my music room that due to stairway construction I am unable to install a door.

We have purchased several of these curtains for our office for the sound proofing quality. The curtains are well-crafted and there is an immediate, noticeable reduction in the rooms in terms of sound level.

Great blackout, but it’s not so effective in reducing noise.

The blackout is real. Do reduce the sound but it’s not amazing. For the price they could be a bit better regarding soundproofing. They should be 5-10 inches wider, mine are a bit short for my windows. Finally they have some stains. I believe they will disappear after cleaning but for a $160+ curtain this is unacceptable. Rather good product but totally overpriced

Regarding the width it's not possible to make it wider, it's based on the width of the pattented thermal lining.
Regarding the stains we are so sorry, it should probably be removed with a damp cloth.
Now as you probably know the noise doesn't come only through the window but also through the walls. It depends of the construction of your building.
The best way to improve the benefits of this curtain is to mix different applications( rugs etc....)

This curtain does block a lot of sound. I have an open doorway from a home studio to our regular living quarters and I ordered this curtain for many reasons. The multi layer is needed to really build a good blocker. The long length was perfect for me. And lastly, the curtain has 2 finished sides so it looks great from any angle.
