looks nice but made the slightest if any difference in noise reduction from outside
› Comment from Moderator the 23/10/2017

Thank you for your nice comments regarding our store.Regarding the soundproof curtain itself allow me to give you some additional information about how exactly our soundproof curtains work. Our curtains are engineered to block external sounds and noise. This is why - as you may have noticed - they are heavy and made up of multiple layers. Even if you do not notice a shutdown of noise levels, the sound is more distant and less aggressive to the ear. Now, each sound environment is different and the intricacies of one's home have to be taken into account. The noise does not come in simply from your windows but also seeps in through the wall and various openings. Regarding the curtains, we suggest you to use double-sided tape to seal curtain edges to wall for improved results. It will help to reduce sound migration around and the amount of sound "rebounding" But keep in mind that, in order to achieve effective soundproofing, your room has to be covered also with absorbent materials.I confirm that our products are patented in the USA and have been tested in certified laboratories. Best regards,The Moondreamwebstore Team

We have a severe sound issue in our loft- we live on the corner of two busy streets and directly across the street from a noisy restaurant. The curtains definitely helped to muffle the sounds from both. Great product!

Great curtains, while I didn't buy them for noise reduction, as I live somewhere quiet, so I can not comment on that. I bought them for the blackout, which is brilliant. I have a car park flood light into my bedroom, which now does not bother me at all, my room is pitch black! With a wrap around curtain pole, I do not have any light coming in the sides, but sun comes through the grommets, the top and bottom.

Good quality, reduces sound, reduces light, also reduces drafts in cold weather. Grey curtains looks more like light purple, and possibly should be advertised as such.

Thank goodness it was a Friday night when I hung these amazing curtains because I slept until 1pm the next day!! Oh, and did I mention they are very stylish looking? I ordered the grey and they do have a tint of light purple to me, a very soft grey, but I am very happy with their look AND performance. I have already ordered more for another room; don't skimp on price when you need a quality product!

Love the curtains as they darken the room drastically and are made of a heavy material. The color is a bit more purple though than grey.

I wish the back side was the same color... The white backing isn't ideal as I am using the curtains for inside French doors

The color was slightly darker than I expected, still beautiful. The product is great and the customer service is even better. Had some unavoidable issues with ordering but I could not be happier with the help I received from Michel and the curtains themselves.

Although I still need to hem them with the iron on tape, the curtains have definitely quieted things down noticeably. Good product.

How to hang my rod pocket & pencil pleats curtains ?

If the curtain has an opening on both ends, than you may use a standard curtain rod, and insert the rod into one end, therefore using it as a “Rod-Pocket” curtain.

    Step 1 iron-on-tape Step 2 iron-on-tape

    Step 1 iron-on-tape Step 2 iron-on-tape

  • 2nd OPTION:
With classic metal rings: Insert the provided plastic hooks inside the braid every 3.4 or 6 inches on the back of your curtain. Insert the hooks into the rings to hang your curtain.

    Step 1 iron-on-tape Step 2 iron-on-tape

  • With a traverse rod: Insert the provided plastic hooks inside the braid every 3.4 or 6 inches on the back of your curtain. To pleat and frown your curtain pull the strings on both sides. Your curtain is ready to be hung into the hooks of your traverse rod.

The measurements vary slightly depending on the type of curtains to be hung.

Choosing curtain height

The height of your curtains is the distance measured from the top of the curtain rail to the floor.
If you prefer curtains that do not touch the floor, reduce the measured height by 0.8 in (2 cm).
For a more decorative aspect with curtains that fall to the floor, add 1.6 to 2 in (4 to 5 cm) to the measured
height. Curtains that "break" at the floor accentuate the ceiling height in the room.
Whatever you choose, all Moondream curtains are delivered with a heat-activated adhesive band so that you can
adapt your curtains to the height you wish.
We recommend that you hang your curtains to measure where to place the hem.

Special case of grommet curtains
Plan to leave 1 in (2.5 cm) between the top of the curtain rail and your ceiling.
This space will be taken up by the material above the grommets.

Choosing curtain width

Measure the distance between one end of the rail and the other (not including decorative tips).
Remember that the stated dimensions always correspond to the flat curtains.
When taking the measurements, take the specific type of curtain attachment system into account.

  • For curtains with pencil pleats
For a highly pleated effect, multiply the measurement by 1.5.
Moondream curtains are sewn with 2.8 in (7 cm) wide pencil pleats.
Once hung, you simply need to pull on the strings at each end of the pencil pleats to create the desired pleat.

  • For grommet curtains
Moondream curtains are made with 8 grommets and the top of the curtains is reinforced and blind hem stitched,
which means that they fall elegantly to the floor to add just the right touch to any interior.
The diameter of the grommets is 1.6 in (4 cm).
When the curtains are folded back, the width of the panel is approximately 5.9 in (15 cm).

How to measure my curtains

How to hem my Moondream curtains?

It is so easy to hem your curtain without sewing!

All our Moondream® curtains are delivered with a iron-on-tape enabling you to adjust the dimensions of your curtains to fit your windows.

N.B.: Given the weight of the sound insulation curtain (up to 6.61 pounds), we recommend adding a few stitches post-application to secure the iron-on-tape in place.

  1. Measure how long you want your curtains to be and lay the curtain with the reverse side facing upwards.
Fold up the hem and iron the fold (without the iron-on-tape).
  2. Place the iron-on-tape inside the fold.
  3. Iron with a pressing action.
The curtain is ready to be install!
